standard procedures in order to produce designs for professional print.
ILLUSTRATOR -
Specify the colour mode for
print - New / Advanced preferences / Colour mode
-CMYK / Raster effects -300 DPI
Creating a new swatch pallet -
Delete all default swatches,
often illustrator can leave stray
swatches behind to manually
delete.
The registration swatch is a
pure black made using
CMYK and is only used to
identify print marks on
design for print.
If you were to use it for fill
colour the amount of ink
used n the print process would
be too much for the stock to
absorb, producing poor quality
and bleed.
There are two basic ways of
creating a new swatch.
The first exampled to the left,
is using the CMYK slider / select
colour / colour menu / Create
new swatch.
The second, using the swatches
pallet / swatch menu / new swatch.
Changing the swatch layout can
be useful to access the exact
CMYK values. Swatch menu / Small list view
Global colours - double clicking
a swatch will open a menu
allowing you to check a 'global'
box. This will add a small,
grey box by the side of the
swatch.
'Global colour' means that any
changes to that specific colour
will effect every single use of that
swatch on the document.
Global colours allow you to
change the tint of the colour in
the colour menu and easily add
it to your swatch list.
