We went to the small newsagents local to uni in an attempt to put our proposed paper in context amongst other leading competitors. We felt it important to get an idea of how it would sit amongst the competition as this is one of the key elements we wanted to pick up on - visual identity. It was reassuring that as soon as we started taking some photos amongst other papers the shopkeeper asked us 'is that a cover design for the I paper?', I proceeded to have a small conversation with him explaining the project and he seemed quite impressed and agreed that it looked interesting and that he would pick it up if he saw it.
Although not a student, it was again reassuring that a non-student customer would still be intrigued by the wrap-around and that if a working civilian is captured by it, hopefully it would transcend through to the student market.
