After doing a bit of research and finding a map that conveniently located a large number of the shops that aren't occupied in Leeds, we decided to primarily base our furtherd research around Boar street, more specifically 'The Calls' where our problem is rife. Between 12:15 and 12:45 we stood around in the cold gathering some primary research.
These are some of the comments people left when we asked them for their opinions on what to do with the derelict buildings in the area.
•Swimming baths
•Studio apartments
•Artist studios
•Temporary accommodation for the homeless
•John Lewis
•Offices
•Cheap affordable homes
•Just knock it down
•School
•Preserve for future

A table recording how many people passed by the area on a Tuesday lunch time,

30-50 | 28 | 30-50 | 21 |
50+ | 21 | 50+ | 12 |
3:2 Ratio of men to women walking past
Occupied buildings – 13
Unoccupied buildings – 9
41% Unoccupied
Between 12:40 and 12:50 – 48 cars drove past
All available roadside parking was limited and expensive, one way street
“Preserve the building for the future, if a school or something else is needed then the structure is already there. Its horrible to look at but if it was refurbished it would be better.”
