Characters


Creating the characters to import into the dig dug scene I've decided to take forward. A simple process using 2 layers for each character changing a slight element of each, the leg of Dig Dug, the mouth of the croc and the legs and arm of the small strange bomb character.

I wasn't sure of the exact speed in which these characters moved in the actual game, so it was a case of adjusting the frame length each layer appeared for until the characters had a movement similar to those 
on the videos posted here.
I came to settle on each layer appearing for 7 seconds. The pictures below show how I went about creating the movement, copy and pasting the two layers and re-arranging them in a sequential order. Once I applied this to each character I pre-composed each character to keep everything manageable.


I would've liked to animate the spear wielded by dig dug and a few other elements on the characters, but I don't think such exact detail is necessary but if it becomes apparent that they look too inanimate I'll have to re-address the issue.
